Hands up who has a high definition TV? They're very cheap these days compared to 10 years ago (my first widescreen was Standard CRT 32" and cost me $4300) and you can get incredible quality nowadays under $2000. Most people I know have a HD screen and even the free-to-air is transmitting in digital high definition.

So why do people have DVD players and buy wedding DVDs when they have a killer high definition LED, LCD or Plasma panel to watch it with? That's a bit like having a horse tow your Ferrari to save on fuel.

New LEDs have the ability to support 3D. Having fallen in love with the Narrow Depth of Field of DSLR video, I was very resistant to 3D technology. That is until I shot a wedding with my new binocular stereoscopic HD camera kit last weekend.

I found myself wearing the hokey glasses totally riveted by watching a simple 3D ceremony. It was like I was there again, among the guests. I wouldn't have believed it had I not experienced it myself. The thrill of 3D lies not in watching films like Avatar or Toy Story so much. It's in experiencing something real in 3D. Being once again immersed in a real event you were involved-in, on or off-screen.

I am happy to stand corrected. New technology is better.
