You only get the one shot to have the best wedding photos imaginable. Working with your photographer to ensure that you have the time and resources to make it happen is important.

As I have posted on this web site before, I like to make images at represent the people in them. This has lead me to all sorts of places doing all sorts of things.

What has now become my favorite is the image below.

The story behind this image is interesting. When I first met the couple I found out that not only were they both amateur photographers, but the groom was also an amateur astronomer. Now when I say amateur, don't get confused for someone with a telescope in the back yard. These two took it to a whole new level with a computer controlled observatory in the back yard of their rural home taking photographs of other galaxies. His name has appeared in many scientific white papers as credit for the photographs he has created. I was impressed.

Obviously, I am going to want to find a way to incorporate this part of their life into their wedding photography without booking a seat on the next Russian rocket heading up to the ISS.

What you see in that photo represents an hours worth of work just capturing the one photo. As the stars move across the sky at night, the camera recorded this movement as a streak. I aimed the lens towards the south to capture the south celetial pole (the point in the sky which Is directly over the south pole) to capture the entire star field rotating around it.

A photograph of the two of them on their wedding day underneath the majesty of the universe is exactly what I wanted. The hour out in the freezing cold was entirely worth it,
