Faversham House – Quality BYO Reception Venue in Picturesque York
Every so often I perform at exceptional venues that offer something different and unique. Faversham House in picturesque York is a case in point. Less than 100 km from Perth, York is a leisurely 75 minute drive from the CBD and is a quaint and historic town oozing old world charm. It is a wonderful place to have a wedding. Faversham House was first built in the late 1830’s with later additions during the 1850s and 1870s. It opened as a guest house in 1997 and is a popular retreat for Perthites seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

In 2004 the new owners Nola & Richard Bliss recognised Faversham's potential as a ceremony and reception venue and under their stewardship it has become an increasingly popular with wedding couples. Although not entirely suitable for a large wedding, it is an enticing option for small to medium sized weddings of up to 120 guests.
So what exactly is unique and different about Faversham? Anyone planning a wedding will know that licensed venues charge a premium for alcoholic beverages. Faversham is BYO. I can't think of too many quality BYO wedding reception venues in WA – if any!
Then there is the superb accommodation. Faversham has 7 luxurious mansion rooms and 6 courtyard rooms. At the end of the reception guests can retire to their rooms. No need to appoint a skipper at Faversham! There are also some excellent accommodation options within walking distance. Faversham itself is only some 500 m from the town centre.
The expansive manicured front lawn and gardens of Faversham, framed with views of Mt Brown, provide a perfect setting for both the ceremony & reception. Weddings can be under the stars in the summer months or held in a marquee. Cocktail style weddings can be held in one of the two large dining/function rooms, but for seated receptions catering for than 45 guests a marquee is recommended. The ceremony itself can be held around the grounds adjacent to the marquee and there are number of attractive options available. There are also 3 gorgeous historic churches in York with one right at the end of Faversham's driveway.

Nola & Richard welcome guests make guests feel at ease with their laid back and accommodating manner. It's not just the owners that provide a warm welcome, their golden retriever Max is on hand to greet the guests and don't be surprised if one of their three cats pops into the marquee for a pat or to listen to the music.
So if you are looking for something a little bit different for your special day, Faversham House is well worth considering.
